Great news for Swedish Basketball. Tonight Norrköping Dolphins qualified for the Fiba Eurochallenge when winning on the road against the Aalst from Belgium. In the home game last week Norrköping turned it around when they got back from trailing with 20 points to finally win with the smallest margin, 1 point, 85-84. In the re-match tonight the score was almost tie in halftime but Norrköping finished strong and won the game with 86-79. Congratulations to Dolphins and good luck in the group stage of Eurochallenge!
In an qualification game one more Belgian team got beaten, this time in the qualification for Eurocup in the holy city of Israel. Hapoel Jerusalem had a 3-point win back with them home after the first game against Liege last week. Jerusalem started the game with lots of energy in front their great and loud fans and had a 15-5 lead. Liege came back, but in the second half Jerusalem stretched the lead to 20 points and won in the end with 11 points, 84-73. Hapoel will play the Eurocup and Liege will play the Eurochallenge.
I really like the way the European competitions are tied together with qualifications to Euro Challenge, Euro Cup and Euroleague and where the loosing teams at one stage drops down to the regular competition of the level below.
